Girls With Plans.....

The girls have all gathered and are thinking about where they are going shopping!! Yes, this is the time to do some serious shopping because of all the sales going on.  I can't bring myself to get out and do that because we were so busy before Christmas I just want to sit back and do nothing!! Well, that is impossible but I choose not to get out in the crowds and fight for something I really don't need just because it is on sale. I am really not a bargain shopper.  I need to be but I don't like it.

We are getting geared up for the "Red Barn" show which will be the 14th and 15th of January.  We will be doing more shows as the years begins!! After the Red Barn we go to Urban Market which is at a new location in Houston.  I will give you more info on that later.  We are excited about the new year.  There will be changes coming but they are all good.  The Dolly Johnson show is the first of March in Fort Worth and then right behind that is Marburger.  As you can see we are going to be busy but hope to run into you along the way.  We hope to add some new things here at Hackberry Farms in between those shows so keep your eye open and we will let you know in plenty time to get it on your calendar.

If you are not a part of the Facebook community you need to get busy and join us.  I post at least one pic a day and sometimes more.  I try to include ideas for decorating in those posts..

See you at a show near you or maybe not so near!!!!!

Garden Christmas at Hackberry Hill Farm

I could not think of a better way to do an official "Garden Christmas" post than with a picture of  one of the Christmas trees included in our  show which will be this Saturday, Dec. 3 here at "Hackberry Hill Farm".  The time of the show is from 10 a.m. til' 5 p.m. or when everyone has gone home. We sent out some invitations but if you did not get one you are welcome to come.  You will need to call for directions if you don't know the way.  Our number is shown on the home page of our website. Be sure and don't forget your stickers when you enter the door so you will be able just to place one on the items you want to buy. Just make sure you want what you place a sticker on or someone will come and get you in a padded wagon if your name is found on an item after you are gone!! There will be a few people taking pictures because they have been given permission prior to the show. Thanks for following that one little rule of not taking pictures.

This show is so exciting for Billy and I!! We  are so blessed to have so many wonderful people who continually come to our little part of  getting the holiday season off to a good start. Bring a friend with you. We want you to have a fun time and don't be surprised who you might see. See up Saturday!!

"A Garden Christmas"

Yes, I know it has been 2 months since I have posted anything on my blog.  I am so sorry but I have a good reason.  I have been totally focused on making this "Garden Christmas" the very best that I can possibly do.  I hope you aren't disappointed. The pic above is in the kitchen and I had to fight "Mr. Billy" to be able to sell this set.  There are two chairs that go with this.  Well, there really is more but this is what I have put in the kitchen.  It is so comfortable and you can easily change the cushions to fit your decor. I have posted some pics on facebook so it you are set up to work facebook then go in and look.  Friend me on Judy Taylor Hill if you would like to see what is there. I hope you didn't give up on me posting any new pictures but I would like to promise to do better!! See you on Dec. 3.   You know to be here promptly at 10 a.m. or you might miss that special treasure.

A Time To Reflect

A big portion of my  junking friends are smack dab in the middle of getting ready for the biggest show that we do all year, During this time we are focused on trying to do the very best we can to take advantage of all possibilities that are offered to us at the show we have chosen to take part in.  We will be set up at the Marburger Farms Show in Tent A, Booth 8. Although I have been very busy getting things ready I have been able to reflect on some areas in my home that are peaceful.

A quiet window with soft lighting that  will calm any anxious feeling that I may have.

A window in my laundry room that causes me to stop and think about what the day has in store for me.

Windows across the back of our family room that makes me want to take a short break from chores and smell the roses (hydrangeas)

Baby bed where precious babies have not a care in the world
This bed also shows the bedding we designed and have made for your precious babies.

The window at the head of our bed in the master bedroom. The place where any problems I might have are discarded for a restful nights sleep

A simple table in the sitting room off the kitchen. A nice place to have a chat with a good friend.

Bathroom where a bath takes care of tired muscles
(Shower curtain is also our design)

I would also like to hear about places in your home that calm frustrations and remind you of the many blessings that are yours for the asking!!

Repurposing Motivations

If you really want to get motivated you need to check out the Junkmarket Under Glass Extravaganza that we have been talking about. It is coming up on September 7 - 10. Taking old items and using them in a new way is like finding them all over again. You will get your chance, to not only get motivated, but find those one of a kind items we all love. This event is hosted by renowned author Sue Whitney and Otten Bros Garden and Landscape Center in Long Lake Mn.

Repurposing can be taking an old bee hive and making a light fixture.

Repurposing can be relocating an inside cabinet to a porch for use as a plant holder.

Repurposing can be an old iron porch swing used as a love seat in a bedroom.

Oh before I forget it is a must that you go to U Tube and search for Sue Whitney at Marburger Farms Weddings Part 1 and Part 2. You just might see someone you know.

Taking time to give thanks

Most of us know who truly deserves our thanks. There is so many different things going on in our lives from day to day we seem to forget to take the time to voice that thanks.  I hope you will stop just a minute and give thanks for just a few of the things we take so for granted.

Thanks you for my family
Thank you for my health

Thank you for my freedom

Thank you for giving your life for me

Leaving Texas and Hackberry Hill Farm.

Yes, this is home in Texas and  I love it but I am more than ready for a break from this hot weather!! The weather man doesn't give us any hope of relief from it  so we have decided to take a road trip to some cooler temps and do a show in the north!!! No matter if you live in Texas or Minnesota everyone love the outdoors and beautiful flowers.  Don't you agree?

This is just a sneak preview of where we will be going.  This is a booth in the "Junkmarket Under Glass
antique show which will be held in a wonderful greenhouse at Otten Bros. Garden Center and Landscaping in Long Lake, Minnesota.  We will be doing the show with Sue Whitney and a wonderful bunch of awesome vendors on Sept 7-10.  We know it is a long way from Texas to Minnesota but pull out the motor home, tent, or turn loose of some of that extra cash and take the road trip with us.  We do have clients in the area around this show and look forward to visiting with some of them in their part of this beautiful U.S. of America. See you soon and you might need to bring a lightweight jacket!!!

You can get more info from the Junkmarket Style website or on Facebook.

Garden Embellishments

I love garden embellishments but I want to use them inside. I hope you like the ones we have shown. It is hard for me to let them go but I know I will always find another one that I love just as well. You may recognize some of the ones shown below as one that I have had at a show you may have been to. Let me know if you see one that looks familiar.

Merci Beaucoup

Just saying "Thank You" does not really express the way I feel about our   friends who continually support our
shows that we have here at "Hackberry Hill Farm".  You are the ones who give the energy that makes these shows so exciting.  Knowing that you have fun makes it all worth the time and energy Billy and I spend getting ready for you.   Again you contributed to a very successful show and we are already looking forward to December so we can do it again. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts!!!

We have already been able to gather some new items for the "Red Barn Show" which will be held at the Big Red Barn Event Center in Roundtop, Texas on Saturday and Sunday, June 25th and 26th.  We hope to see you there!!

Big on Twigs

Our main focus for this show is going to be heavy garden . As you can see from the above pic  we are a little out of the box this time..  We have always had our "Home Show" on Thursday and we changed it to Saturday, June 11 - which is this coming up Saturday. I hope you put the right "day of the week" on your calendar. I am excited to see if some of our "working girls" are going to be able to attend.  I sure hope so. We are already getting calls wanting directions so that is a good sign. Don't hesitate to call if you are not sure how to get here and for those of you that have never been our phone number is listed on the home page of our website so be sure and give us a call.  The weather man says it is going to be cooler the last part of the week so don't let a little heat stop you from coming. If you like garden antiques you are in for a treat.   See you Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Hackberry Hill Farm

After 15 plus years we have finally agreed on a name for our little piece of heaven here on earth. The tree that stands out front in the pic is called a "Hackberry Tree" and that is why we have decided to name our little farm Hackberry Hill Farm.  There is another one just inside the pasture and several others that are not shown in this picture. When you get your invitation to our JUNE 11 SPRING SHOW you will not be confused when it comes from Hackberry Hill Farm. Remember our show this time will be on a Saturday and we hope this makes it easier for you to include it on your calendar.  We are working to make it a very special show and hope you gather all of your friends, bring them with you and make a day out of it.  If you have never been, find someone that has and come see that everything in the house truly is for sale. Call us if you need more info

You will love this new bedskirt that doubles as a coverlet that we have just added to our Whitewash bedding line.  Everything you see in this pic will be for sale.  Also the potting shed will be open!! I don't have it finished yet but as soon as I do maybe I can get a pic posted for you. Remember Saturday, June 11.  Hope to see all of you then.  Hugs, Judy

Room with a View

This is another pic of our booth at Marburger.  The curtains are part of our "Whitewash" bedding line.  They are gauze with our signature 3 ruffles.  We had so much fun setting up our booth for this show and I have had requests for pics of the booth so I will be doing posts for a while showing some of the things we did.  Hope you enjoy looking as much as we enjoyed setting it up.

Just a reminder of our next "Home Show" which will be on a Saturday this time.  Contact us for more information and directions if you have never been.

Whitewashed Bedding!!

This is a pic of our display of our bedding line at the Marburger Show.  The skirt of the coverlet is overlaid with gauze and a few of our pillows are shown also with gauze.  The burlap pillow is a new design that we have just introduced and are having very good luck with them. Call us for more information on the bedding.

We will be having our next "Home Show" on June 11th - which is on a Saturday!! For those of you that have not been able to come on Thursday we have decided to try a SATURDAY and see how it works.  Give me your feedback.  Also we have the Roundtop Summer Show on our schedule the last of June and we will give you more details as time gets closer.

Remember the new day of our Spring Home Show

Marburger Booth

We did a little different set-up at Marburger this show.  This is a pic coming in from the south end of the tent.  We had divided our booth into two completely different areas.  One was all white and the end closer to the front of the picture was all garden.  It was a fun booth to set up.  I hope you can tell a little about it.  I will post some larger  pictures when I can get my sweet husband to slow down long enough.

We are enjoying beautiful spring weather here in Texas!! Hope it is just as pretty no matter where you are!!

Cozy Kitchen Cabinet Corner

Do you keep your kitchen cabinets clear? I try  and then the first thing I know I have cluttered them back up.  I guess I just like clutter or maybe I just like to look at fun things. I love white and what a fun way to make plain jars white using marshmallows.  The lids of the jars are made from sheets of  old music just  tied with jute.  Go ahead and try it.  After a while the paper forms itself to the jar and it just lifts off like a lid. Believe it or not the marshmallows are still fresh and have been in those jars since Christmas. There are several more jars behind those showing that you can't see.  Have fun!!

A Season for All Things

So ready for "springtime" Oh how I would love to go out and spend some time on the back porch!! Maybe it won't be too long before we will be able to do that.  We will certainly appreciate  some good Texas warm weather after all of these extremely frigid days we have been "blessed" with.  At least as the "old timers" say "it sure killed all of the bugs". This is probably true but I hope some of them return for the springtime. Enjoy the season because "there is a season for all things"

A mix of "White"

I apologize for not keeping my blog updated!! Here are a few pictures of some "white" pieces that we have
had in our home at different times.  Since this is "white Wednesday" I thought I would try to post some of our
white furniture items.

This is a "married" chest and mirror that I wish I still had

A "springtime" mantle arrangement

I love the contrast of the dark green walls with the stark white of the old wicker sofa.

Roundtop Winter Show

I think most everyone is ready for an "junking" fix!! We are going to help you with your addiction . The "Roundtop Winter Show"  at the Red Barn in Roundtop, Tx. is this coming up this  weekend - Saturday, Jan. 15 and Sunday Jan. 16.  It is inside where it is nice and warm and dry.  I am sure you are aware that some of the best vendors in Texas will be at this show. It is worth the drive.  We look forward to seeing you.  The pic above is a shot of  some of the items we will be showing.  There is much more to see in the 50 plus booths where awesome vintage items will be shown
